A roof rake is a long-handled tool for pulling snow off a roof while standing on the ground, preventing ice dams and structural damage from heavy accumulation: After the blizzard, I spent an hour with the roof rake clearing the north side.
The term also refers to the sloped edge of a roof along a gable end—the diagonal trim where roof meets wall.
