rocket man
Orbital vehicle pilot
Rocket man refers to someone associated with rockets or space travel—an astronaut, a test pilot of rocket-powered aircraft, or an engineer working on rocket propulsion.
The term gained cultural permanence through Elton John's 1972 song about an astronaut's lonely isolation.
It can also describe anyone whose career involves dramatic risk or meteoric ambition: He fancies himself a rocket man, but he's never left the ground.
