rock crabs
Coastal claw creatures
Rock crabs are medium-sized crabs found along rocky coastlines, typically harvested for food.
Several species share the name, including the Atlantic rock crab and various Pacific species.
They're distinguished from other edible crabs by their habitat among rocks and jetties rather than sandy bottoms: We caught rock crabs off the pier.
