ringbone
Horse pastern growth
Ringbone is a bony growth that forms around the pastern or coffin joint in a horse's leg, causing lameness and stiffness.
The condition results from chronic inflammation and can develop from injury, poor conformation, or hard work on rough surfaces.
The vet diagnosed ringbone in the mare's front leg.
Once established, ringbone is usually permanent.
