riddances

Acts of removing

Riddances is the plural of riddance, the act of getting free from something unwanted.

The word appears almost exclusively in the expression good riddance, said when someone or something undesirable finally leaves: Good riddance to that awful neighbor.

Outside this phrase, riddances is rare, though one might speak of multiple riddances of pests or successive riddances of bad habits.
