retro futurism
Vintage visions ahead
Retro futurism is a style in art, design, and media that imagines the future as people from the past envisioned it—chrome rockets, ray guns, flying cars, and robot servants.
The aesthetic draws on mid-20th-century optimism about technology, particularly the Space Age look of the 1950s and 60s: The video game's retro futurism featured streamlined cars and atomic-powered cities.
