rescue raft

Survival water vessel

A rescue raft is an inflatable boat kept aboard ships or aircraft for emergency evacuations.

Unlike life rafts designed merely to keep survivors afloat, rescue rafts are often equipped for active retrieval operations—with oars, lines, or other gear for reaching people in the water: The crew deployed the rescue raft when the swimmer went under.
