rescrewing

Replacing a fastener

Rescrewing is the act of screwing something again—reinserting or retightening a screw that has come loose or been removed: After replacing the battery, he spent a few minutes rescrewing the back panel.

The word applies equally to literal fasteners and to anything that screws on, like bottle caps or light bulbs.
