religious conflict
Faith-based warfare
Religious conflict is strife arising from differences in religious belief, practice, or identity.
It ranges from theological disputes within a faith to violence between adherents of different religions: The Thirty Years' War began as a religious conflict between Catholics and Protestants.
The term sometimes masks conflicts where religion provides justification for disputes rooted in territory, ethnicity, or political power.
