ideological conflict
Worldview versus worldview
Ideological conflict is a clash between groups holding incompatible belief systems about how society should be organized.
Unlike disputes over resources or territory, ideological conflicts pit worldviews against each other—capitalism versus communism, secularism versus theocracy: The Cold War was fundamentally an ideological conflict.
Such conflicts often prove difficult to resolve through compromise, since each side views the other's principles as fundamentally wrong.
