rehosting

Moving software elsewhere

Rehosting is moving software or applications from one computing environment to another—typically from on-premises servers to cloud infrastructure—without significantly modifying the code.

Often called "lift and shift," it's the quickest migration approach but may not take full advantage of the new platform's capabilities: We rehosted the legacy systems to AWS as a first step.
