refueling stops
Where tanks fill
Refueling stops are pauses in a journey to replenish fuel.
The term applies literally to vehicles stopping at gas stations or aircraft landing to take on fuel, but extends to any brief stops during travel: We made two refueling stops on the drive to Denver.
The phrase sometimes covers bathroom breaks and snacks along with actual fuel.
