refiling

Putting back away

Refiling is the act of filing something again—submitting paperwork, documents, or legal claims a second time.

This typically happens after an initial filing was rejected, withdrawn, or needs correction: After the court dismissed the case on a technicality, the prosecutor announced plans for refiling.

In office contexts, refiling can simply mean returning documents to their proper place in a filing system.
