red marrow
Bone's blood maker
Red marrow is the soft, blood-producing tissue found inside certain bones.
It manufactures red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
In adults, red marrow is concentrated in flat bones like the pelvis, sternum, and skull, while long bones contain mostly yellow marrow, which stores fat.
The biopsy sampled red marrow from her hip bone.
