reasonableness
Quality of fairness
Reasonableness is the quality of being sensible, fair, or moderate.
A reasonable person acts with sound judgment; reasonableness is the noun for that trait.
Courts often invoke the reasonableness standard—what a typical prudent person would do under similar circumstances.
The word also applies to prices, demands, or expectations that aren't excessive: The reasonableness of his offer surprised everyone.
