rearer
One who nurtures
A rearer is one who rears—raising children, livestock, or other creatures to maturity.
The word appears most often in compounds: child-rearer, cattle-rearer.
In British usage, a rearer can also be a horse that rears up on its hind legs, or anything that rises dramatically: The rollercoaster was a real rearer.
