rear-admiral
Two-star sailor
A rear-admiral is a naval officer rank above commodore and below vice-admiral.
The name derives from the historical position commanding the rear squadron of a fleet.
In most navies, it's the lowest flag officer rank—the first to carry admiral in the title: She was promoted to rear-admiral last year.
