Ready-mades are mass-produced items available for immediate purchase, as opposed to custom or handmade goods: ready-made curtains, ready-made suits.
The term also names an art concept pioneered by Marcel Duchamp—ordinary manufactured objects presented as art, like a urinal or bicycle wheel.
Figuratively, ready-made describes anything conveniently pre-existing: a ready-made excuse.
