rain chain
Downspout's decorative cousin
A rain chain is a decorative alternative to a downspout, consisting of linked metal cups or rings that guide rainwater from a gutter down to the ground or a collection basin.
Water cascades visibly from link to link, creating both a visual and audible feature.
The design originated in Japan, where chains have directed rainwater for centuries: We replaced the ugly downspout with a copper rain chain.
