railheads

Where railways end

Railheads is the plural of railhead, which has two main senses.

A railhead is the end point of a railway line—where tracks terminate and cargo must transfer to other transport: Supplies were trucked from the railhead to forward positions.

In military contexts, it's specifically where materiel is unloaded for distribution to troops.

Railhead also means the end of a rail itself, the part that contacts train wheels.
