radical acceptance
Surrendering to reality
Radical acceptance is a therapeutic concept meaning complete, non-judgmental acknowledgment of reality as it is—including painful circumstances beyond one's control.
The "radical" signals totality: not grudging tolerance but full embrace of facts, however unwelcome.
Rooted in dialectical behavior therapy and Buddhist philosophy, it separates acknowledging what *is* from approving of it.
Radical acceptance doesn't mean I like that my marriage ended—it means I stop fighting the reality that it did.
