pro-ams
Celebrity-amateur golf events
Pro-ams are competitions or events that pair professional athletes with amateurs, common in golf and tennis: The celebrity pro-am drew crowds before the main tournament.
The term also describes the participants themselves or the format generally.
In other contexts, pro-am describes a middle tier between pure amateur and fully professional: the pro-am photography market.
