pressure plate
Floor-mounted trap activator
A pressure plate is a flat surface designed to detect weight or force applied to it.
In vehicles, the pressure plate is part of the clutch assembly, clamping the clutch disc against the flywheel.
In gaming and security contexts, pressure plates are floor-mounted triggers that activate when stepped on: The trap was rigged to a pressure plate.
