press time

When printing begins

Press time is the moment when a publication goes to print, after which no further changes can be made to its content.

The phrase appears most often in the expression at press time, used to acknowledge that information was current when the publication was finalized but may have changed since: At press time, the election results remained uncertified.

Though rooted in physical printing, the term persists in digital journalism to indicate a cutoff point for updates.
