Pregaming is drinking alcohol before going to an event where drinks will be expensive or unavailable: We pregamed at her apartment before the concert.
The practice extends beyond alcohol—pregaming can mean any preparation done beforehand: I pregamed the interview by researching the company.
The word comes from drinking before a sporting event.
