practice pad
Quiet drumming surface
A practice pad is a rubber or silicone surface mounted on a base, used by drummers to practice sticking and rudiments quietly without a full drum kit.
The pad simulates the rebound of a snare drum while absorbing most of the sound: I run through paradiddles on my practice pad before rehearsal.
Essential gear for apartment-dwelling drummers and warming up backstage.
