acoustic drum

Non-electronic rhythm instrument

A drum that produces sound through physical vibration of a membrane or shell, as opposed to electronic drums that generate sound digitally.

The term emerged to distinguish traditional drums—snares, bass drums, toms, cymbals—from their electronic counterparts: He prefers the feel of acoustic drums over his electric kit.

Most drummers simply call them drums unless the distinction matters.
