polar bear cub

Young white ursine

A polar bear cub is a young polar bear, typically born in a winter den and remaining dependent on its mother for about two and a half years.

Cubs are born small and helpless, weighing only about a pound, and grow rapidly on their mother's rich milk.

The polar bear cub stayed close to its mother on the sea ice.
