playoff series
Championship elimination bracket
A playoff series is a sequence of games between two teams in tournament competition, where the winner is determined by total games won rather than a single contest.
Most playoff series require winning a majority—best of five, best of seven: The Lakers won the series four games to two.
The format allows the better team to overcome a bad game or two.
