district finals
Regional playoff round
District finals are the championship competition at the district level in a tiered tournament system, typically in high school or youth athletics.
Districts are geographic divisions smaller than regions or states, so district finals represent an early elimination round—winners advance to regionals, then state championships: They lost in the district finals last year but made it to state this season.
