plant sap
Botanical vascular liquid
Plant sap is the fluid that circulates through a plant's vascular system, carrying water, nutrients, and sugars between roots, stems, and leaves.
Some saps have commercial value—maple sap becomes syrup, rubber tree sap yields latex.
Sap can also refer to the sticky residue plants leave on surfaces: I got pine sap all over my hands.
