Scaly tropical fruit
Pitaya is the fruit of certain cacti native to the Americas, typically oval with leathery skin and soft, seed-studded flesh.
The most common variety, also called dragon fruit, has bright pink or yellow skin with white or magenta interior.
The taste is mild and slightly sweet: I added pitaya to my smoothie bowl.
