peperoncini

Tangy Italian peppers

Peperoncini are mild, slightly sweet Italian peppers, typically pickled and served as a condiment or garnish.

They appear frequently on antipasto platters, in salads, and as a topping for sandwiches and pizza.

The peppers are usually yellowish-green, wrinkled, and about two to three inches long.

I always ask for extra peperoncini on my sub.

Though the name is Italian, peperoncini have become a staple of American Italian-style cuisine.
