pelters
Those hurling objects
Pelters are things thrown at someone, especially in anger or protest—stones, bottles, eggs, rotten vegetables.
The word appears most often in British English: The politician was met with pelters from the crowd.
By extension, pelters can be verbal attacks: harsh criticism hurled at a target.
