pelter
One who throws
A pelter is something that pelts—a heavy rainstorm, a barrage of thrown objects, or anything coming down hard and fast: The hail was a real pelter.
In British slang, pelter sometimes means a run at full speed: He set off at a pelter.
The word also applies to someone who throws things, or in older usage, a dealer in animal skins (pelts).
