party popper
Festive confetti launcher
A party popper is a small handheld noisemaker that releases a burst of confetti and streamers when you pull a string or twist the base.
The pop comes from a tiny explosive charge.
They're standard equipment at New Year's Eve celebrations, birthdays, and other festive occasions: The kids set off party poppers at midnight.
