para-sports
Disability-inclusive competitive games
Para-sports are competitive athletic events for people with physical, visual, or intellectual disabilities.
The prefix comes from Paralympic, itself from parallel—sports running alongside traditional athletics.
Para-sports include adapted versions of mainstream events like wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball, as well as disciplines unique to disability sport like goalball and boccia.
