panophobia

Fearing all things

Panophobia is an excessive, irrational fear of everything—a generalized state of dread without a specific object.

Unlike phobias targeting particular things (heights, spiders, crowds), panophobia is unfocused anxiety that attaches to whatever presents itself: Her panophobia made ordinary decisions paralyzing.

The term appears more in literary and philosophical contexts than clinical ones.
