oversample

Duplicate minority instances

To oversample is to collect more data from a particular group than their proportion in the overall population would warrant.

In statistics and machine learning, oversampling addresses imbalanced datasets by duplicating or synthesizing examples from underrepresented categories: We oversampled minority cases to improve the model's accuracy.

In audio, oversampling means sampling at a rate higher than necessary to capture the signal, reducing distortion and noise.
