overlit
Excessively lit up
Overlit describes a space or scene with too much artificial light, creating a harsh, unflattering, or unnatural effect.
The term appears most often in photography, film, and interior design criticism: The restaurant was overlit and sterile—no atmosphere at all.
An overlit photograph loses shadow and depth.
The word can also describe writing or performance that's too emphatic, leaving nothing to subtlety.
