contrasty
Stark light differences
Contrasty describes images with strong differences between light and dark areas, leaving little in between.
The term comes from photography and film, where high contrast creates dramatic, stark visuals: The black-and-white photos were deliberately contrasty.
It's informal jargon—the standard adjective is high-contrast.
