one shot

No second chance

One shot describes something that happens only once or has only one chance to succeed: It's a one-shot deal—take it or leave it.

A one-shot is also a single serving of liquor, or in photography and film, a frame containing just one subject.

The phrase emphasizes finality or limited opportunity: We've got one shot at this.
