one finger salute
Middle digit extended
A one finger salute is an extended middle finger directed at someone as a gesture of contempt or anger—the same as flipping someone off or giving them the finger.
The phrase plays on the formal military salute, replacing respect with obscenity: He gave the tailgater a one finger salute in his rearview mirror.
