oil pastel
Creamy drawing stick
Oil pastel is a drawing medium made of pigment mixed with oil and wax, forming a soft, crayon-like stick.
Unlike chalk pastels, oil pastels don't crumble or require fixative, but they also don't blend as smoothly.
The waxy texture allows for layering and scratching techniques: She built up rich colors with oil pastels.
The term also refers to artwork made with this medium.
