notification dot
Tiny attention beacon
A notification dot is a small colored circle, usually red, that appears on an app icon or menu item to signal unread messages, alerts, or items requiring attention.
The dot persists until the user checks the notification: I keep seeing a notification dot on my settings but can't figure out what it wants.
Also called a badge or alert dot.
