A noseguard is a protective piece covering the nose, found on helmets, eyeglasses, or face shields.
In American football, noseguard (or nose tackle) is the defensive lineman who lines up directly opposite the center, positioned at the "nose" of the offensive formation: The noseguard stuffed the run up the middle.
