Nonglazed describes surfaces, particularly ceramics or tiles, that lack a glassy coating.
Nonglazed tiles have a matte, porous finish rather than a shiny, sealed one: The nonglazed terracotta absorbed moisture.
The term also applies to windows without glass or pastries without a sugar coating.
