non-aggression pact
Mutual ceasefire agreement
A non-aggression pact is an agreement between nations not to attack each other.
Such treaties may include provisions for neutrality if one party goes to war with a third country.
The term often evokes the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, which Hitler violated two years later: The non-aggression pact bought Stalin time he squandered.
