niners
Gold rush team
Niners is a nickname for the San Francisco 49ers, the NFL football team.
The name derives from the gold prospectors who rushed to California in 1849: The Niners are playing Sunday.
Outside football contexts, niners can refer to anything designated by the number nine, though this use is uncommon.
