newsman
Scoop-chasing reporter
A newsman is a male journalist, reporter, or broadcaster who gathers and presents news.
The term was standard when journalism was male-dominated but now sounds dated: He was an old-school newsman who'd covered wars and elections.
The gender-neutral alternatives—journalist, reporter, news anchor—have largely replaced it in professional contexts.
